Dosing systems
Dosing systems from Steinbach are a simple aid to automatically regulate the concentration of salt, the effectiveness of chlorine and the pH value. You no longer have to continuously measure manually, but the dosing system automatically tests the concentration and degree of pollution of the pool water. The dosing systems dispense liquid chlorine, pH value reducers or salt as required.
Facts worth knowing about dosing systems
Dosing systems are space-saving and an effective instrument for measuring or controlling the disinfection potential of chlorine, current pH values and the salt concentration in the bathing water. The ideal values should first be achieved manually by adding chlorine and pH-value preparations and controlled with test strips. The salt system, on the other hand, distributes the addition of salt more evenly than is manually possible.
Chlorine dosing system
In simple terms, a chlorine dosing system takes over the daily control of the effectiveness of the chlorine. More precisely, the chlorine dosing system measures and controls the so-called redox value. This determines the disinfection potential, i.e. how quickly chlorine decomposes and micro-organisms are killed.
The redox voltage does not give any information about the actual chlorine value in the pool water. A high redox voltage means that micro-organisms are killed quickly. The redox value is an important value in water treatment and water quality. The value indicates the amount of chlorine in relation to micro-organisms such as bacteria, germs and the like. It thus provides information on whether there is sufficient disinfectant to remove contaminants in the bath water. If more dirt gets into the bath water, the redox value also increases. If there is a discrepancy, the dosing system reacts and increases the chlorine content by automatically adding liquid chlorine.
The ideal chlorine value should always be in the range between 0.3 mg and a maximum of 0.6 mg per litre. To ensure that the water quality is always consistent, the use of a chlorine dosing system is recommended, as this adds the required amount of liquid chlorine directly to the pool water when required.
The redox value is strongly dependent on the pH value and the temperature of the pool water. The effect of disinfectants such as chlorine is always strongly linked to the correctly adjusted pH value of 7.0 to 7.4.
The installation of the chlorine dosing system from Steinbach is simple and space-saving. The installation can also be retrofitted to existing pools without any problems.
Tip
At the beginning of the bathing season and in the case of strong temperature fluctuations, the desired values can still deviate considerably. Here it is advisable to manually regulate the addition of chlorine and pH value reducer or siphon and check the values using test strips. Check the chlorine levels in your pool water regularly during the bathing season. The dosing system should also be checked at regular intervals.
Salt systems
The Salty de Luxe salt water systems from Steinbach are suitable for Styrofoam pools and polyester pools. Depending on the model, it can be used for water volumes of 50 m3 or up to 80 m3. The required salt quantity for both Salty de Luxe models is approximately 5 kilograms per cubic metre of water. The maximum chlorine production is 15 to 20 grams per hour.
Salt is sodium chloride. Sodium and chloride are separated by electrolysis and the desired chlorine is produced to disinfect the pool water. The chlorine produced combats microorganisms effectively and lastingly. The disinfectant is produced by itself, so to speak, and you will need little or no more chemical cleaning agents for water treatment. The integrated electrolysis process reduces the amount of chlorine required by up to 70%. Since salt does not evaporate, this process is automatically repeated every day when the Salty de Luxe salt water system is put into operation.
The sodium (salt) is retained. During the bathing season, salt only needs to be added again when fresh water is fed into the system. The Salty de Luxe salt system adds salt to the bathing water and results in a better distribution than if salt was added manually. The electrolysis cell is self-cleaning, so cleaning is kept to a minimum.
The pH value must be checked and adjusted twice a week. Use measuring strips to test the pH to the ideal value of 7.0 to 7.4 and chlorine content of 0.3 mg to 0.6 mg per litre. If there is too little chlorine in the water, increase the running time of the salt system. If the chlorine content is too high, reduce the running time.
Please note that salt systems are not suitable for steel jacketed pools, stainless steel pools, bronze and stainless steel built-in components. The salt attacks the steel jacket and causes rust. Stainless steel ladders require the use of a zinc plate.
Automatic pH regulator
A constant pH value of ideally 7.2 is the basis for the water treatment of your pool. Automatic regulation of the pH value enables optimum efficiency in water treatment.
A pH probe continuously measures the pH value and any deviation from the ideal value of 7.0 to 7.4. The display shows you the current pH value in the bath water at any time. You can easily set which values - both minimum and maximum - must not be exceeded. In the event of a deviation, either the "pH value upper limit" or "pH value lower limit" function lamp lights up. The Steinbach ph-control is equipped with a dosage time limiter which prevents the risk of overdosing, for example in the event of a malfunction of the pH probe.
The harder the water is and thus the more calciferous it is, i.e. at a value above 7.4, the bath water gradually becomes cloudy as more lime deposits are formed. The water temperature, environmental influences and bathing frequency have a decisive effect on the pH value. Hard water and a too high pH value are usually the problem, while a too low pH value is rather a rarity. With the automatic pH regulator from Steinbach, the addition of pH-Minus is done by itself.
If the pH-value drops for a short time, this is not a problem. The pH-value rises again by itself when fresh water is added as well as by heating the bath water.
Salt water systems have the advantage that only an economical use of chemical pool care products is necessary, as salt contributes optimally to the disinfection of the bath water. The automatic pH regulator is a useful addition to a saltwater system, but is compatible with all types of treatment.
The automatic pH-regulator from Steinbach can be installed easily and in a space-saving manner, even at a later date.
